The Dave Hickling Memorial Bursary

Dave loved skydiving. During his skydiving career he tried almost all of the disciplines that he could. From belly flying in the UK 100-way record to wing suiting and sky surfing, as well as being an Advanced Instructor, Examiner and of course Dropzone Owner.

Whenever Dave could escape the office, he would try and sneak on a load which had a spare slot so, he could jump and practice a new skill, and it was truly his passion to have a skydiving centre where everyone could progress and challenge themselves in the sport.

In Dave’s memory, Skydive Langar and Dave’s Estate would like to offer the opportunity for any Langar Skydiver to apply for a Bursary in order to support them achieving their next challenge or goal. It doesn’t matter how big, or small of a challenge. From gaining an instructor or coach rating up to gaining your very first grade 1 sticker. What matters is that you share Dave’s passion for skydiving and challenging yourself.

We are opening applications for 2025 Bursaries on the 13th March, which is Dave’s Birthday and the closing date is the 13th May. In order to apply, please send an email to bursary@skydivelangar.co.uk with as much information as you can. We really look forward to reading your stories and hearing how you would like to challenge yourself in 2025.

What could you achieve with the Dave Hickling Memorial Bursary?

This Bursary has been created in Dave's memory to support any Langar skydiver who has a passion for the sport and a goal they want to achieve. It doesn't matter how big or small your goal, your application is welcome and the successful recipient will be notified after the closing date of 13th May 2025.

Achieve a new sticker

Perhaps you'll use your Bursary to achieve a new sticker in skydiving, such as your FS1, FF1, TR1 or WS1.

Become a coach

You could use your Bursary to help you build your skills to become an FS coach, with the support of the Progression School.

Earn an instructor rating

Ever wanted to work in the sport? You could use your Bursary to work toward and achieve an instructor rating.

Anything else!

Terms and conditions

Applications are welcome from 13th March 2025 and will no longer be accepted after midnight on 13th May 2025.

Bursary available to Langar skydivers.

You must outline the intended purpose of the Bursary in your application.

The Bursary will be provided in the form of jump tickets to be used at Skydive Langar by 31st March 2026.

We may ask you for updates on your progress and videos/photos to share in our channels.
